Can Mesothelioma Become Hereditary?

Mesothelioma is not a hereditary disease. However, it is not uncommon for those within the same household to develop mesothelioma. This can be attributed to a shared exposure to the asbestos fibers. Often, if a parent or guardian is working in an asbestos related field, he or she can bring home some of the asbestos fibers. These fibers can then become airborne and enter the lungs of an unsuspecting family member.
