Can Mesothelioma Growth be Slowed?
The treatments for mesothelioma do not typically slow the growth of the tumors significantly, but they do reduce the symptoms and their effects on a patient’s daily life. There are a number of drugs and treatments to help victims on mesothelioma. One in particular, called Veglin, is in development and will hopefully slow the progression of the disease. Veglin is predicted to be able to stop cancer cells from producing VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor). This is the chemical that allows the cancer cells to grow. If these cells are stopped, the cancer cannot spread. Developments in drugs that will help ease the pain of mesothelioma by reducing the pace of its growth are occurring daily.
