What are the Symptoms of Mesothelioma?
Symptoms typically take 20 years to develop, but can take as long as 50 years or more to actually show up. Symptoms include, coughing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, difficulty sleeping, weight loss, pain in the chest and abdomen, and fluid in the chest. In addition to these symptoms, people with peritoneal mesothelioma may experience a buildup of fluid in the abdomen, bowel obstruction, abnormal blood clotting, abdominal mass, and fever. Those with pleural mesothelioma may experience pain in the lower back, pain in the side of the chest, a persistent cough, husky voice, difficulty swallowing, and fever.
The symptoms of mesothelioma make it extremely difficult to diagnose.
