Decortication
Removal of part or all of the external surface of an organ.
Depression
In everyday language "depression" refers to any downturn in mood, which may be relatively transitory and perhaps due to something trivial. This is differentiated from Clinical depression which is marked by symptoms that last two weeks or more and are so severe that they interfere with daily living.
Diagnosis
Process of determining the causes, natures, and treatment of a disease or injury. Many sources of information including a current medical examination, patient medical history, and the review of medical and laboratory data are used.
Diaphragm
The muscle wall between the chest and the abdomen that the body uses for breathing.
Do-Not-Resuscitate Order (DNR)
An order usually requested by terminally ill patients that tells medical technicians to not attempt to resuscitate them.
