The Mesothelioma SOS Glossary - Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted and typically negative reactions sometimes associated with different medications. There are several different types of side effects, or adverse drug reactions (ADR's). Type A side effects are pharmacologically predictable, and usually consist of fatigue, dry mouth, etc. These side effects occur in most patients studied. Type B side effects are bizarre and unpredictable, and do not usually occur in clinical trials of the drug. Type C side effects arise from chronic use of a medication, and can include dependency. Type D, Type E and Type F side effects are rare and are either delayed reactions, end of dose reactions, or failure of therapy reactions respectively.
