The Mesothelioma SOS Glossary - Trachea
The trachea is the airway through which respiratory air transport takes place in organisms. The trachea or the windpipe extends from the larynx to the bronchi. It is lined with ciliated cells that push particles out of the airway, and is enforced by rings of cartilage which help it to prevent from collapsing. The inside of the trachea is also lined with a ciliated mucous membrane, which aids in respiration transportation.
