Carolina Shipping Company
Founded in Charleston, South Carolina in 1927, the Carolina Shipping Company has a long history of excellent service and dependability. During the first several decades of its existence, the company was primarily concerned with performing agency and stevedoring services and operated a number of its own general cargo vessels.
In 1989, Carolina Shipping was acquired by Biehl International, Houston, Texas and is now exclusively a steamship agency. That same year, the company sold its stevedoring interest to Stevedoring Services of America. Carolina Shipping Company now has additional locations in Savannah, Atlanta, and Brunswick, Georgia; Georgetown, South Carolina; and Jacksonville, Florida.
