Halter Marine Group
Headquartered in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the Halter Marine Group designs, builds, converts, and repairs offshore drilling rigs, vessels, and engineered products for both government and commercial customers. The company's products include offshore support vessels, double hull tank barges, offshore tugs, harbour tugs, towboats, oceanographic research and survey ships and high speed patrol boats.
Records show that Halter Marine is the leading US commercial shipbuilder and one of the most prolific builders of mid-sized ocean-going vessels in the world. Halter notes that its vessel designs can be found in virtually all facets of the maritime industry.
Halter’s US shipyards have built more than 2,600 vessels - more than any other shipbuilder in the world. For the military, Halter Marine Group has completed almost a billion dollars of successful shipbuilding contracts within budget and on or ahead of schedule for the US Navy, Army, NASA, and Air Force and other branches of the US Department of Defense.
Halter employs hundreds of shipyard workers at their 7 facilities throughout Mississippi and Louisiana. Throughout the years, many of these employees have been exposed to toxic materials during their tenure at one of Halter Marine Group’s shipyards. The repair and conversion of ships often involves exposure to asbestos found in items such as boilers, gaskets, insulation, and floor and ceiling tiles.
If you’ve been employed by the Halter Marine Group and have developed asbestos-caused mesothelioma – an aggressive form of lung cancer – you need to learn all there is to know about the disease and its treatment. You also have financial rights as a meso victim. For more information, order our free Mesothelioma Resource Kit.
