Naval Station Everett
Construction on Washington’s Naval Station Everett began in 1987 and concluded in 1994, with the arrival of naval personnel who were to be stationed at this modern base.
The base was soon dedicated and the first ships to be homeported at Everett arrived in September of that year.
Currently, Everett is home to two destroyers, three frigates, one aircraft carrier, and two Coast Guard cutters. Tenant commands located at Naval Station Everett include Destroyer Squadron 9, Naval Reserve Readiness Command Northwest, Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest, Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit 101, and about a dozen others.
Naval personnel and civilians employed at Naval Station Everett perform a variety of duties. Some work aboard the ships stationed there, making repairs or renovations to the vessels. At times, these workers may be exposed to dangerous materials sometimes found on ships, including asbestos. Working with asbestos can be hazardous to your health, causing diseases such as asbestosis or even cancer.
If you’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma, an aggressive asbestos-caused cancer, and you’ve been employed at Naval Station Everett, you’ll want to learn all you can about the disease, cutting-edge treatments, the best doctors, and your right to legal recourse and financial assistance.
