Recent Study Claims Potential Connection Between Genetics & Mesothelioma
A new study released by BMC Genetics may be a step towards finding a cure for malignant mesothelioma cancer. Researchers at BMC claim that human cells within the lung cavity present a “genetic response” when exposed to crocidolite asbestos.
Researchers utilized what they call “systems biology” to study the various cellular processes that occur during the development of cancer, including cell growth and proliferation. If researchers and scientists can better understand how the body reacts to asbestos exposure and what occurs at a cellular level upon exposure, they may be able to find a cure.
Mesothelioma cancer does not have a known cure, and the survival rate associated with this disease is about 1%.
