Longest Living Meso Sufferer Offers his Insights
July 26, 2006 - A man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1997 is still alive and hopes to teach others how to increase their chances or survival and deal with the disease that almost always results in a quick death sentence.
According to a press release on PR Newswire, Mr. Paul Krauss, now 61 years old, was given just a few months to live when his doctor diagnosed him with malignant pleural mesothelioma at age 52. Unwilling to accept his fate and always one to challenge conventional beliefs, Paul and his wife set out to find other ways to address this cancer, which is normally very aggressive.
Paul has now written a book about his methods of dealing with the disease, entitled “Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient’s Guide.” In the book, he addresses the less traditional ways he’s found to deal with his diagnosis and how he handles the challenges of everyday life as someone afflicted with cancer.
In the book, the Australian gentleman and his wife talk about their views on cancer and dealing with the stress of the diagnosis, how they changed their eating and other daily habits, and what part spirituality has played in the way they’ve handled Paul’s mesothelioma.
Recently, Paul has also begun holding teleconferences so that he can personally speak with mesothelioma patients from around the world.
While Paul is not cancer-free, his mesothelioma has not metastasized in many years, a fact that most doctors would deem nearly impossible.
